The purpose of sports is to play your game or match or recital. Winning isn't everything but being able to do something that you are passionate about is what makes it worth it. You get exercise which is good for you but then you also meet new people. You become a family. I loved playing sports in high school. I always looked forward to the seasons. When you did win, it was a rush that I got at least. Sometimes parents can get involved in the sport a little too much and it can ruin what you love doing. Otherwise sports are for the people who love it. People shouldn't go out for a sport if they didn't like it because they wouldn't have any fun and they wouldn't take it as serious. Sports can also be for professionals and for people who get paid to do their job. It doesn't always have to be about the love of the sport, although I believe it should be.
Benefits for sports focused on in America would be that there is always something for people to go see. They can meet their favorite players or go watch a game. They can even get people together at their homes and sit around the TV to watch it. It is good exercise for those who do play sports. Some drawbacks that we have of sports is that people expect so much out of these athletes. They don't have time for their families or even for themselves. They have to maintain grades and friends and other things as well. The athletes have to practice everyday for hours. They can get injured if they work themselves too hard.
I think some things could be changed when it comes to sports. We focus too much on the sport and not enough on the person. Some athletes get paid for playing their sport, which is what they love to do and make millions. While others are fighting for our country and don't even come close to that. It's not just about the money that could change but a few other things too.

Say Yes To The Dress and Lavish Wedding
The reading about the Lavish Wedding and the episode we watched in class called "Say Yes To The Dress" has some connections in it. One of the connections that is talks about is having a "fairy tale" usually this means that it was love at first sight and you will live happily ever after. It is the princess theme that a lot of people think a wedding should be. It all started with Cinderella. Brides want to look like her and have a wedding that is extravagant. The episode and the reading talks a lot about princess themed and royalty. If it doesn't match the expectation that they had in mind then they won't have their happily ever after like Cinderella.
In Say Yes To The Dress 50% of brides want to look like a princess. They come in and tell the consultant that they want to have everything like a princess does. For example, they talk about Princess Dianne and Princess Kellie. They want to match their types of wedding dresses and how they looked that day. Their wishes have to be met and it has to be perfect. A lady asked for a black dress but she ended up going with white. One lady asked to have 2 dresses that was under the budget of $13,000. Everything had to be perfect just like Cinderella had it and also Queen Victoria.

Ad Sexual Objectification
For the first picture this ad seems to be selling a purse but how could anyone tell? This woman is naked and doesn't need to be naked to sell a purse. According to Caroline Heldman, this ad is objectifying her because it is only showing parts of her body, we don't know if she is giving consent because her face isn't facing us, and they are using her body as a canvas.
For the second picture this add seems to be selling shoes, hand bags, and sunglasses. According to Caroline Heldman, his woman is being objectified she is being a stand-in for an object. Shoes, purses, and sunglasses do not belong on a person to just hang there. She isn't wearing them for pleasure. She also can't give consent either. Not only that but they have put a shoe on her butt which shows that she isn't in charge.

Duke Student Porn Star
CNN reporters talk to a psychologist who thinks Lauren is brave. She not only thinks she is brave for being a porn star but for also sticking up for herself. The lady says that Lauren feels empowered by it and she agrees that it's okay for her to feel that way. If it is something she is passionate about then that should be okay to do.
The CNN lady disagrees with the psychologist because she thinks it's wrong for her to feel empowered by being a porn star. She doesn't understand what kind of feeling it gives her. She also says that she is lying to her parents about it, so she doesn't know why she feels empowered. Especially if she can't stand up to her parents and tell them the truth.
The Young Turks talk show discusses how Lauren is doing this to pay for her college tuition which is $60,000 a year. The lady thinks she is a good girl who is trying to do the right thing and doesn't agree with other people bashing on her. The guy disagrees with everyone. He thinks they are all immature.
When Lauren tries to explain herself on some social media, she gets a lot of threats and name calling. People even tell where Lauren lives so she can get more harassed. That is awful.
This tells me that society is and isn't okay with pornography. People are not comfortable with her bodies and people may or may not express themselves.
