Ad Sexual Objectification

For the first picture this ad seems to be selling a purse but how could anyone tell? This woman is naked and doesn't need to be naked to sell a purse. According to Caroline Heldman, this ad is objectifying her because it is only showing parts of her body, we don't know if she is giving consent because her face isn't facing us, and they are using her body as a canvas.
For the second picture this add seems to be selling shoes, hand bags, and sunglasses. According to Caroline Heldman, his woman is being objectified she is being a stand-in for an object. Shoes, purses, and sunglasses do not belong on a person to just hang there. She isn't wearing them for pleasure. She also can't give consent either. Not only that but they have put a shoe on her butt which shows that she isn't in charge.

  1. I do agree with both of your points. Clearly that is not how you would hold a purse and you especially wouldn't be naked. I am also trying to understand what the words on her body have to do with the selling of the purse. I agree with your second picture and how that is not how you wear shoes or sunglasses. She isn't giving constent because we can not see her face.

  2. The second advertisement is more sexual than one would think. First of all she is naked and in an odd position. Not only can you barely see her face but her face is down/not shown kind of assuming that she has no power in this situation. Another thing about this advertisement is the fact there is a shoe is on her head like someone is stomping on the back of her head as if maybe she has done something wrong (even though she hasn't). There is no consent given to this poor woman. Sad.
